King's Lynn 3 19th Hussars 1
24th April 1909
The last Saturday of the football season saw an attractive game at Walks field. King's Lynn were opposed in the final for the Hospital Cup by the 19th Hussars, the holders of the Cavalry Cop and the Norwich League Cup, and the finalists for the Norfolk Senior Cup. Last season Lynn drew with and then beat the Soldiers, while this year the Hussars took the honours in the Senior Cup competition by 3-0. A very close game was expected, both teams being very keen.
Lynn: Peck; Macdonald, Allen; Stevens, Dines, Hornigold; N. Bannister. W. Bannister, G. Gemmel], Easter and Ransome. Hussars: Jenkins; Shatford. Deacon; Kunkler, Connolly, DoIfe; Longland, Sydall, Wilson, Dickens and Pressland.
Referee: Mr. J. C. Heath (Denver).
The game was played in fine weather, with a stiff breeze, before an excellent "gate." The Hon. E. Cadogan kicked off in Lynn's favour.
Lynn proved the better team and the Soldiers, in the latter part of the game did not appear to relish their defeat. Gemmell and N. Bannister (2) scored in the first half and Sydall in the second.
