King's Lynn 3 Lowestoft Town 0
24th July 2001
STRIKER Lee Hudson registered his first goal since his summer return from Kettering as the Linnets eased to victory against their Jewson Premier League visitors.
Hudson's 37th minute strike was the highlight of another impressive display from Lynn, who found themselves in the comfort zone for long periods of the 90 minutes.
Manager Tony Spearing said: "It was a very professional performance as Lowestoft are no mugs and finished third in their league last season.
"We could have run in seven or eight and the only thing that disappointed me was the fact that we didn't turn the screw at 2-0 in front.
"Saying that we are getting better and stronger with each game and I thought our front two of Zeke (Rowe and Lee (Hudson) looked very lively"
Spearing also praised second-half substitute Jamie Clarke, who could have grabbed a hat-trick himself after replacing Rowe. "He has so much pace and that's why I brought him here. He deserved a goal," said Spearing.
All eyes were on new signing Steve Welsh, who fitted in well alongside fellow defensive giants Glen Fuff and Dave Robinson.
Trialist Paul Miller made the midfield tick and worked well with Adie Hayes and Jason Minett, while Hudson's work-rate upfront was once again another big plus.
The other goals came from Glen Puff in the 14th minute and Miller in the 78th minute.
Goalkeeper Steve Wilson gave the Walks faithful some anxious moments at the start of the second period, but made amends with an acrobatic penalty stop 14 minutes into the half after Craig Clark had handled in the box.
Lynn's six substitutes also impressed, especially youngster Ross McNeil, who set up two chances for the unlucky Clarke in the late-stages. Lynn: Wilson, Dakin, March (Eldridge 61), Robinson (Clark 58), Fuff, Welsh, Minett (Anderson 63) , Hayes (Evans 61), Rowe (Clarke 56), Hudson (McNeil 75), Miller.
