THE Linnets were shot down by the Stutes in yesterday's Bank Holiday Monday derby at Histon.Lethargic Lynn's sorry start to the season continued when they slumped to defeat at their Cambridgeshire rivals.
Goalkeeper Steve Corry and his defence were conspicuous by their absence, and Histon surged into a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Lynn did salvage some pride before defender Adam Jones was sent off for deliberate handball in the 73rd minute, just inside the Lynn half to and their misery.
THE Walks outfit made one change from Saturday 's win with Carl Holmes replacing Andrew Stanhope in a 3-5-2 formation.
Histon got off to the perfect start in the fifth minute when Jamie Barker was allowed to waltz his way through a static defence before slotting the ball home past Corry.
Lynn were still asleep two minutes later when Louis Farrington picked out Barker with a crossfield pass to fire home his and Histon's second.
The Linnets enjoyed a brief spell of possession, but dozed off again in the 20th minute when Neil Coburn crossed for Neil Andrews to head home an easy third past a bemused Corry. On the half-hour Joby Gowshall denied the hosts a fourth when he scrambled Neil Kennedy's shot off the line.
Lynn reduced the arrears in the 37th minute when David Staff smashed home a superbly struck free-kick on the edge of the box after Lee Stephenson had been elbowed in the back.
The fingertips of home keeper Paul Barber denied Lynn further joy from a Staff drive in the early stages of the second half.
The visitors eventually grabbed their second strike in the 55th minute when Carl Holmes and Stephenson linked up just outside the box before Holmes slid the ball home.
Corry made amends for his lack of anticipation earlier in the game with an acrobatic double-save to foil former Linnet Ian Cambridge on the hour.
The impressive Barker completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute when he drilled home Histon's fourth from just inside the area.
The Stutes also brought on ex-Linnet Roscoe Hipperson, while former Wisbech forward Peter Munns was on the bench.
Near the end Lynn handed former Spanish second division star Pablo Ortega his debut. Lynn: Corry, Anderson, Staff, Jones, Fuff, Gowshall (Bacon 62), Weston, Raynor, Johnson (Stanhope 70),Stephenson, Holmes (Ortega 70). Subs not used: Watts, Nobes.
