Cheshunt 1 King's Lynn 3
26th December 2007
THE Linnets had to come from behind at basement club Cheshunt before maintaining their position at the top of the table.
As against Mangotsfield, Keith Webb's side missed a catalogue of chances in the first-half before an early second half strike from Ben Chapman settled their nerves.
George Gregoriou wasted a golden opportunity to fire the hosts in front before Lynn dominated the rest of the half.
Leading Linnets scorer Danny Bloomfield saw his header hit the bar, while the same player volleyed wide from ten yards out with both space and time on his side.
Both Ben Sedgemore and Steve Melton were guilty in front of goal before former Linnet Michael Deane handed Cheshunt the lead with a fine strike from 20-yards.
Two minutes after the interval, Sedgemore played in Chapman, who levelled the scores with a crisp effort.
Bloomfield handed Lynn the lead with a controversial second goal with ten minutes remaining.
The striker's shot clearly didn't cross the line after hitting the underside of the Cheshunt crossbar, but the referee's assistant signalled a goal.
There was little argument about Lynn's third strike in injury time when substitute Michael Frew chipped home goalkeeper Brian Sealy from 35-yards.
Lynn: Howie, West, Chapman, Warren, Crane, Camm (Fisk 79), Melton (Frew 59), Sedgemore, Nolan (Turner 65), Bloomfield, Francis.
Attendance: 276.
