Brigg Town 1 King's Lynn 1
26th December 2012
King's Lynn Town boss Gary Setchell saluted his side's character after they came from behind to claim a point with ten men at Brigg Town.
The Linnets, trailing to a half-time goal from Paul Grimes, had Ryan Fryatt sent-off in the second half before Russell Dunkley pounced to earn a share of the spoils.
A happy Setchell said: "There have been a lot of games where we've had to show a lot of character this season, but I think today is top of the tree for me.
"To come back from going a goal down on a bumpy pitch, in difficult conditions, and having a player sent off shows the belief and character which we have in the dressing room.
"It was a good point. They had the better of the first half and there wasn't much we could do about their goal from a set-piece, but we changed things and were a lot better after the break.
"We created a number of chances and had we kept 11 players on the pitch then I believe we could have gone on and won the game."
Fryatt, who had already been booked in the first half, was shown a straight red for a lunge on Ryan Packowski.
Setchell had few complaints about the youngster's dismissal, saying: "The referee has given Ryan a straight red but, if anything, it was just a second yellow for me.
"Ryan is a young player and he will have to learn from that. When you've already been booked, you can't go flying into tackles like that.
"It was a wet pitch, but it was the same for both teams and sometimes you have to use your head in those conditions.
"In the end end it was his over-exuberance of being a young player which has got him a red card."
Fryatt now faces a lengthy suspension after his first-half caution saw him pick up his fifth booking of the campaign before his straight red after the break.
The introduction of livewire Steve Spriggs at half-time changed the game in Lynn's favour after a disappointing first 45 minutes.
Spriggs added some much-needed pace and width to Lynn's play and the little wide man set up Dunkley for his tenth goal of the campaign after 76 minutes.
His omission from Lynn's starting line up caused some concern among Lynn fans, but Setchell explained: "Spriggsy had been ill for a day or two over Christmas and he told me that he wasn't fully fit before the game.
"I had people sitting behind me who were fully fit so it seemed sensible to use them.
"He came on and did very well for us and, after playing 45 minutes today, we're hoping he will be OK for Saturday."
