King's Lynn 4 Yate Town 0
27th January 2007
The Linnets rediscovered their scoring touch in an improved display from the previous weekend to move within two points of a play-off place.
Two goals in either half were enough to see a depleted Yate outfit, who went into the game without the suspended trio of Lee Jefferies, Steve Jenkins and Paul Chenoweth and knee-injury victim Jason Wood.
Lynn boss Keith Webb said: "Apart from the first 15 minutes I was delighted with the performance.
"Yate put us under a lot of early pressure, but the first goal from Andrew Fisk changed the game.
"Andrew produced the kind of display I knew he was capable of. He has set his own standards now and has given me a nice problem in the middle of the field."
Webb added: "I was very pleased with the display of our front two because everything we did stemmed from their hard work."
After a nervy start, which saw Dean West clear from under his own bar after a Shaun Marshall flap, a quickly-taken free-kick led to Matt Nolan passing for Fisk to hammer home Lynn's first.
Fourteen minutes later it was 2-0 when the unselfish Michael Frew crossed for Steve Melton to stab the ball home.
The hosts lost Matt O'Halloran on the half-hour mark, but luckily his injury is not thought to be too serious.
Lynn's third goal arrived three minutes into the second half when Nolan guided home Fraser Toms' corner.
Substitute Jack Defty was responsible for Lynn's final goal of the afternoon when his ball across the box was converted by Andrew Cave-Brown at the far post.
The winning margin would have been far greater but for the heroics of Yate shot stopper Tony Court.
Lynn were also guilty of missing a host of other chances, with Michael Frew, Nolan and Toms the main culprits in front of goal.
