LYNN'S wretched run in the Blue Square North continued with a disappointing defeat at league leaders Tamworth on Tuesday night.
Keith Webb's side were beaten by a goal in either half to extend their winless run in the division to 11 games.
Under-pressure Webb said: "I thought we did enough to get something out of the game.
"We looked solid and worked hard, but just couldn't put the ball into the back of the net.
"Tamworth scored a wonder free-kick, which would have graced the game at any level, and added a second late on as we pushed forward for an equaliser.
"I really didn't think there was much difference between the two teams."
Webb defended his decision to play disgraced defender Greg Crane following his sending-off for a head butt against Blyth Spartans.
"Greg put in a real shift at Tamworth and I can have no complaints with him," said Webb.
"He justified my decision to include him and I thought both he and Bradley Thomas dealt with one of the most potent strikeforces in the league very well.
"It would have been easy for me to have left Greg on the bench, but I would have been taking a massive risk by experimenting and throwing in players who hadn't played for a number of weeks."
Webb rang the changes in Lynn's midfield after the Blyth debacle, bringing in Scott Mitchell and Mark Camm for Adam Smith and Gavin Hurren respectively.
Smith's relegation to the bench saw him lose the captain's armband to recent arrival Andy Johnson.
Lynn's other change saw Jack Defty come in for Andrew Fisk as The Walks outfit went for broke with a three-man attack.
An early chance for Lynn saw ex-Nottingham Forest defender Des Lyttle rob Michael Frew just as he was set to test Lambs goalkeeper Alcock.
Tamworth took the lead in the ninth minute when Gareth Sheldon's delightful strike beat Rob Murray with ease after a clumsy tackle from Ben Chapman on Alex Rodman.
Frew looked the most likely source of a Lynn goal, again being foiled by Lyttle before seeing his free-kick hacked away on the restart.
Matt Birley skied a centre into the stands and Murray was on hand to parry Jake Sheridan's rasping drive as Tamworth threatened.
Birley then blazed wide with only Murray to beat after Crane failed to clear under pressure from Sheldon.
Joachim's blast was blocked by the impressive Craig McAughtrie before Webb introduced Mark Peters as an emergency striker.
Tamworth sealed victory in the second minute of stoppage time when Sheldon's long-range effort hit the bar and former West Brom striker Stuart Nicholson tapped home from close range.
Tamworth became the first side to do the double over Lynn for three-and-a-half seasons, making it a treble of league and cup victories over The Walks outfit this season.
