King's Lynn 2 Norwich City XI 2
29th July 2008
The Linnets came from two goals
behind in this Norfolk derby as Julian Joachim notched his first Lynn goal.
The young Norwich side - containing just two recognised first team squad players in their starting XI - for long spells did better than their senior counterparts did last year at The Walks.
Lynn were run ragged for long periods of the opening half. In the eighth minute the Canaries beat the offside trap and Luke Daley slotted home.
Another slick counter attack saw Kris Renton superbly volley home from 18 yards, while Scott Howie kept Lynn in the game with some fine saves.
Lynn boss Keith Webb, who was himself in charge of the Canaries youngster for several years, said: "Their extra fitness told in the first half.
"They chased us down and were lively and sharp.
"They cause us a few problems, which surprised me.
"That was as good a performance from a Norwich side under the first team that I've seen for quite a while.
"Once we settled them down at half-time and made some changes we started to get on top. I was pleased with the comeback."
However, Steve Melton flicked on for Joachim to fire home his first Lynn goal, then late on John Turner converted a penalty after he was clipped by keeper Stuart Nelson.
