Ian Stringfellow scored his first goal back in Lynn colours in an eventful game for himself.
He netted an equaliser after 56 minutes but had been involved in an incident with team mate Glyn Roberts ten minutes before the break.
Roberts supposedly said something to Stringfellow and the pair confronted each other before having to be pulled apart.
Cambridge had taken the lead through Andy Kiwomya on 52 minutes and former Linnet Lee Norfolk netted the winner on the hour.
