King's Lynn Town put up a stern resistance against the league leaders but it wasn't enough to prevent Chesterfield completing the double.
Lynn, without Tyler Denton, Baris Altintop, Pierce Bird, Kyle Callan-McFadden, Michael Clunan and Arthur Iontton, gave debuts to Theo Widdrington and Olly Scott.
The Spireites had the better of possession in the first half, controlling the opening 15 minutes.
On 19 minutes a long kick by Scott Loach was flicked on by Saidou Khan to find leading scorer Kabongo Tshimanga but it didn't quite drop for him.
Lynn responded with Josh Barrett latching onto a through ball on the right but his shot across goal was wide.
Four minutes before the break Alex Whittle hit the side-netting for the hosts.
Resolute defending from the visitors kept chances to a minimum although the Spirerites were not making the best of the opportunities being created, gaining seven corners in the first half whilst Lynn had to wait until the 75th minute to record their first corner.

Tshimanga had a chance soon after the restart but he failed to connect and Paul Jones collected.
The deadlock was broken on 51 minutes, Liam Mandeville shooting from the edge of the box, the ball possibly taking the slightest of deflections to beat Jones.
Ross Barrows had chance for Lynn on the hour mark, beating a couple of challenges before shooting wide from distance.
The home side had a couple of chances late on to put the result beyond doubt. Khan, in on goal with just one man to beat, put his shot wide and Tshimanga, in a similar situation, took too long to get his shot off and his effort was blocked by a defender and looped into the hands of Jones.
