The Linnets produced a remarkable result at Maidenhead in a repeat of last season's scoreline. It was a 3-2 victory that could looked an unlikely outcome at half-time.
Lynn had fallen behind in the fourth minutes and had lost Junior Morias to injury on 22 minutes and had been under pressure for much of the opening stages, Lynn having more of the possession as the half progressed.
A Shaun Donnellan cross found the head of Kane Ferdinand to put the Magpies in front - the sixth goal Lynn have conceded in the opening 15 minutes this season and continuing Lynn's record of never scoring first in a league match this season.
The nearest anyone came to goal in the remainder of the half was Will de Havilland getting on the end of a Sam Barrett free kick but neither 'keeper was seriously troubled.
The game was turned on its head with two Lynn goals in as many minutes. On 47 minutes substitute Malachi Linton scored from close in and then Ross Barrows got on the end of a long ball and beat the onrushing home keeper Rhys Lovett.
Despite the Magpies' efforts to get back into the game it was not until the 90th minute they managed to equalise - that coming from the penalty spot in controversial circumstances.
Aaron Jones was adjudged to be the guilty party when colliding with Sam Beckworth and Barrett scored from the spot - as he had done twice last season when the clubs met.
From the restart, however, Brett McGavin went straight for goal, drilling home the winner.
