Altrincham’s first visit to Norfolk saw them stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to six games whilst Lynn are without a league win in five but maintain their remarkable unbeaten run of home league matches stretching back to September 2018.
A goalless first half saw Lynn dominate possession and have the better of the few chances created whilst Alex Street, in the Lynn goal, was not required to make a save although he did cut out a couple of dangerous crosses.
Visiting ’keeper Anthony Thompson did well to keep the first half goalless tipping over an Aaron Jones effort on five minutes and then preventing a close range
effort from Chris Henderson on 20 minutes and another save on 31 minutes to deny Adam Marriott. Altrincham looked dangerous on the break but were quick to put banks of players behind the ball whenever Lynn had possession.
The visitors came more into the game after the restart but it was Marriott that broke the deadlock on 77 minutes, a diagonal ball knocked down by Michael Gash fell to Marriott who, with his back to goal, turned his marker to put the ball under Thompson.
The celebrations were short lived and the scores were level three minutes later, Tom Peers beating his man to centre for Josh Hancock to score.
With six minutes remaining Marriott notched his fifteenth goal of the season - substitute Sam Kelly’s charge down the left saw him cross for Marriott, again with his back to goal, to turn and finish..
In the fourth minute of time added on a free kick conceded by Kelly saw John Johnston hoist the ball into the box and in the resulting scrambleJake Moult managed to force the ball home.
