Lynn recorded the first win on their return to National League North with a 2-1 over last season’s Southern League champions Kettering Town.
Both sides showed no changes from the opening game of the season, Lynn manager Ian Culverhouse keeping faith with his selection against Guiseley despite the 3-0 defeat.
Lynn started brightly with visiting ’keeper Paul White cutting out Nathan Fox’s tight angled cutback in the first minute.
Fox then had a couple of efforts that went wide while appeals for a penalty were turned away when Adam Marriott’s neat footwork ended in him being grounded.
Marriott then put a free kick narrowly wide as Lynn continued to dominate. Chris Henderson had a shot turned behind and Marriott had a header turned away for a corner.
The Lynn pressure was relentless but the visitor’s defence and ’keeper White held firm.
Kettering came more into the game as the half progress and had the ball in the net on 41 minutes but the Aaron O’Connor goal was ruled out for offside.
Another Marriott header was tipped over the bar by White within a minute of the restart and then Henderson had a good chance but it went straight into White’s arms.
Alex Street’s first serious call-to-action came on 53 minutes when substitute Gary Stohrer tried his luck from outside the area. Visiting captain Richens then headed over the bar but it was Lynn who deservedly took the lead on 67 minutes when Marriott head home Aaron Jones’ cross.
Kettering responded with a number of corners and came close to scoring but Street was on hand to clear the danger from the feet of Nti following a Joe Skarz header,
On 84 minutes Lynn doubled their lead when substitute Sonny Carey scored on his debut from Sam Kelly’s cut back.
Kettering pulled a goal back two minutes later when Street fumbled a shot and Brett Solkhon was on hand to bundle the ball home.
It set up an exciting finish but Lynn survived the late pressure.
