Lynn got a deserved three points at the Horsfall Community Stadium on the opening day of the season in a game of few chances.
The visitors gave starting debuts to Adam Crowther and Jordan Ponticelli with the influential Josh Barrett having to settle for a place on the bench.
The first half saw Lynn have the edge in terms of possession but the best scoring chance fell to the home side in the opening five minutes with Jamie Spencer firing just wide.
George Sykes-Kenworthy in the home goal was called into action with a routine save after Olly Scott got on the end of an Aaron Jones’ cross.
Cameron Hargreaves had a half volley go over and Gold Omotayo just failed to connect with a Ponticelli cross. Lynn continued to press but it was the home side that had the last chance of the half with Eddie Church forcing the seldom troubled Paul Jones into a save.
An early chance after the restart fell to the home side but Crowther produced a vital tackle to deny Church. Aaron Jones tried his luck from long range but the home keeper was up to the challenge as play became scrappy.
Just after the hour mark Ponticelli got on the and of a Omotayo flick-on but once again the home keeper was there to deny an opening goal.
The home side came more into the game winning their first corner of the match after some 70 minutes.
The match was decided on 83 minutes when Ponticelli’s cross was headed home at the far post by Omotayo.
The home side tried to get back into the game with Spencer being denied by the onrushing Paul Jones as Lynn claimed the points.
