King’s Lynn Town maintained their position at the top of the National North league table with a 2-0 win over Chorley - the Magpies biggest defeat of the season so far.
Lynn made one change to the starting line-up that had thrashed Kettering Town with Aaron Jones coming in for the injured Theo Widdrington.
The early chances fell to Lynn with an Olly Scott free kick hitting the woodwork and then a Ben Stephens effort from some 20 yards met a similar fate.
A Jordan Ponticelli half volley was on target on 16 minutes but brought a superb save from Matt Unwin.
Chorley’s first effort of note came midway through the half when Jon Ustabasi found space but was thwarted by the fingertips of Paul Jones at the expense of a corner.
Unwn continued to be the busier keeper keeping out efforts from Aaron Jones and Stephens but on the stroke of half time a Josh Barrett cross found the head of Ponticelli who headed home.

Chorley looked to get back into the game but could not take advantage of two good chances. First Ustabasi headed Adam Blakeman’s free-kick over and then Connor Hall set Joe Nolan through on goal but he was denied by the legs of Jones and Ustabaşı’s attempt on the rebound was cleared.
Unwin was again called into action to deny Barrett as Lynn looked to make the game safe.
For the visitors, Hall had a shot that was deflected on by Josh Coulson but Jones was able to keep the ball out.
Lynn eased their nerves with a goal in the 71st minute when Michael Clunan’s corner found Coulson - Unwin managed to block his effort but in the resulting scramble Adam Crowther stabbed home from close range for his first goal for the club.
