Dover's eighth league visit to The Walks ended in defeat, as did the previous seven, as Lynn secured their first home league win of the season to give new manager Tommy Widdrington the perfect start.
Whilst Dover had a points haul less that those of the hosts and therefore Lynn might have been expected to get something from the game, achieving it was another matter and essential that the Linnets would end a run of eight consecutive league defeats.
Despite the blank weekend the previous week there was still a more time needed to heal the injuries to Kyle Callan-McFadden, Tyler Denton, Luis Fernandez, Arthur Iontton and Baris Altintop.
Josh Barrett was hero and villain in a first half which saw Lynn try to impress their new manager. Barrett's ability to see an opportunity and execute the pass to create a chance set up Malachi Linton but the resulting cross ended up in the hands of the visiting keeper Josh Bexon. Then on 21 minutes a flick on from Gold Omotayo saw Barrett put Lynn ahead with a long-range lob from the left of the area.
Nine minutes later the scores were level after Barrett had lost possession allowing Aaron Cosgrave to cross and Alfie Pavey to poked home from close range at the far post
The goal gave the visitors confidence but their best chance, five minutes before the break, saw Lynn keeper comfortably save from Cosgrave.
Four minutes after the restart saw another piece of magic from Barrett. Brett McGavin laid the ball into his path and he unleashed a shot from some 25 yards into the top right corner of the net.
There were chances for both teams. The visitors had Thomas Bramble and Ryan Hanson shooting wide and Paul Jones doing well to tip Pavey's header over. While Lynn finished the stronger with substitutes Michael Gyasi and Ken Charles both going close.
