Both teams would probably have settled for a point before kick off and so they were not disappointed while the fans were probably happy with a game that livened up as the match progressed.
Both teams made two changes from the starting line-ups of Saturday. Theo Widdrington was out injured and Josh Barrett also dropped to the bench with Kyle Callan-McFadden and Ben Stephens replacing them.
Southport had Chris Doyle coming in to replace Jack Doyle and Michael Carberry replacing Niall Watson.
There was little goal action in the first half and neither goalkeeper troubled and a flurry of bookings just before the break being the main talking point.
Southport took the lead on 55 minutes. The move was started with a Ben Stephens' wayward backpass allowing a break down the Southport left and a centre into the Lynn box creating a scramble which was eventually ended with Carberry scoring from close range and Lynn appealing for offside with Adam Crowther picking up his fifth league booking of the season for protesting.
Paul Jones was on hand to push away a looping ball from Keenan Quansah but ten minutes later Lynn got the equaliser their pressure deserved. Stephens heading home for his fourth goal of the season.
Both teams looked for a winner in a nail-biting finale, Gold Omotayo coming closest for Lynn for a header that went just wide with four minutes remaining.
