King's Lynn Town moved six points clear at the top of the National League North table but found fifth placed Banbury a much tougher opposition than that of higher placed Darlington who they defeated on Saturday.
The first notable chance of the game fell to the visitors with Slavi Spasov forcing a fine save from Paul Jones.
Lynn responded with a chance on ten minutes but Josh Barrett's free kick only found the visitors' wall.
Banbury gave a good account of themselves but Lynn goals each side of the interval were decisive.
Once again Barrett was involved in the goals - crossing for Josh Coulson to head home on the stroke of half time and four minutes after the restart a mistake in the Banbury defence allowed Cameron Hargreaves to steal the ball which found Barrett who curled the ball into the far corner of the goal.
The visitors were not ones to give up and five minutes later pulled a goal back through Jack Stevens who was on hand to pick up the rebound after Jones had saved from Connor Roberts.
Lynn found themselves under pressure and Jones produce a double save while grounded after Stevens' shot had hit the post.
On 63 minutes Lynn went further ahead with Barrett again the creator as his free kick found Coulson who headed home.
The final result might have been closer had Aaron Jones not been on hand to clear from the goal line and Stevens not missed a penalty with six minutes remaining after Spasov had been fouled.
