Chorley managed what Lynn couldn't - a first win of the season.
Lynn manager Mark Hughes may have won five out of his six games as caretaker manager at the end of last season, but is now winless in five since - but that is with a much changed team.
Lynn's chances were dealt a blow when Tom Clifford was dismissed just after the hour mark at a time when Lynn were seemingly getting back into the match.
The first half belonged to the hosts and in particular Justin Johnson who gave Lynn problems throughout.
The first warning of danger from the Dutch striker came in the second minute with a shot that struck the bar.
Paul Jones, returning as the Lynn keeper after injury, did well to keep out two efforts from Jack Hazlehurst and one from mark Ellis before Chorley took the lead with Johnson scoring from the penalty spot in first half time added on following a late challenge by Clifford.

Lynn came more into the game after the restart and equalised when a Josh Barrett’s corner was nodded on by Kyle Callan-McFadden for Josh Coulson to score at the backpost.
Chances from Barrett and Jordan Ponticelli gave Lynn hope but on 63 minutes Clifford was red carded for a challenge on Johnson and after that the hosts dominated and added to their score
Billy Whitehouse hit a post and Jack Sampson has a the ball in the net but it was ruled offside
Lynn couldn't hold on and Johnson scored his second of the afternoon on eighty minutes and nearly added a third five minutes later
Two minutes into time added on saw Hazlehurst complete the scoring although it could have been four had substitute Louis Britton not seen his shot saved.
