Lynn made two changes to the team involved in the goalless draw at The Walks with Chris Henderson and Michael Clunan coming in at the expense of Ryan Jarvis and Sonny Carey who dropped to the bench.
In a perfect start Lynn were two up in eight minutes. The first goal came on five minutes from a Clunan corner which found the head of Rory McAuley to score.
Three minutes later Lynn doubled their lead when Ross Barrows was on hand to fire home his first goal of the season after a ball in had been cleared off the line.
The Bulls won their first corner of the game on ten minutes Jordan Cullinane-Liburd getting on the end of the ball in but Alex Street saved on the line,
Barrows then managed to intercept a Cullinane-Liburd header back to his keeper but he put his effort wide,
Hereford came more into the game after the break, substitute Jordan Nicholson forcing Street into a fine save and in the following minute they were awarded a penalty after Peter Vincenti was bundled over by Michael Gash but Vincenti's spot-kick was well kept out by Street.
Street then denied Vincenti's powerful header before the rebound was cleared off the line.
McAuley came within an inch of putting the tie beyond any doubt, but saw his header at the front post smash against the post.
Lynn made sure of an encounter with Dover Athletic in the next round when, with four minutes left on the clock, a Ryan Hawkins shot was palmed into the path of Sonny Carey to fire home.
The margin of victory could have been greater, Hawkins saw his effort rifle off the post and Sonny Carey rounded the goalkeeper but Cullinane-Liburd blocked his effort on the line.
