Lynn returned to third place in the table in an entertaining game at The Walks that was dominated by heavy rain and snow.
The Crows last eight games had seen just six goals conceded and three scored so a game involving six goals looked an unlikely outcome but the conditions probably influenced the final scoreline..
Lynn’s early chances failed to cause any serious concern for the visitor’s defence as the greasy surface was responsible missed chances while for the visitors Gus Scott-Morriss put a 20 yard effort wide as the game began to open up.
Will Mellors-Blair was given his first start since signing and he forced Joe Welch into a good save when he got his head on the end of a Ryan Fryatt cross on sixteen minutes.
Lynn won a number of corners and it was from one of these that Royston managed to break away and score.
On-loan Cambridge United striker ran through on goal but was fouled by Alex Street, Rouldell Gordon scoring from the spot to give Royston a 21st minute lead.
Adam Marriott put a shot wide a few minutes later but was more successful in the 26th minute, scoring his 13th league goal of the season after a neat build-up involving Michael Clunan.
Lynn took the lead five minutes later, Fryatt heading home from close in from Clunan’s corner.
Royston got back on level terms on 37 minutes following a Gash back pass that split the Lynn defence. Street came out but Neal was first to the ball and he chipped the stranded ’keeper from some 25 yards.
With five minutes of the opening half remaining a Mellows-Blair shot was blocked only for the ball to fall to Gash to score Lynn’s 50th league goal of the season.
The second half saw a lot of endeavour from both side with Lynn dominating and Royston looking dangerous on the break and neither defence looking assured in the difficult conditions.
Lynn made sure of the points on 83 minutes when a Gash cross was deflected into his own net by Dan Brathwaite.
