Lynn go down 2-1 at the Walks, to high flying Flyde.

Going in two down at the break, stand in Manager Joe Simpson  made two changes at half time.

Clunan scored on 73 minutes to reduce the deficit, but when  the full time whistle was blown, it was to register a 2-1 win for the visitors.

Att: 1131.

Gates seem to be holding up at the moment.

Today's result takes us down to 15th in the table.

13 points from 39 . We have a young side, a young inexperienced manager. Is it a line in the sand time or do we do the Norfolk thing and think the garden smells of roses ?? :laughcry:

Both Fylde's goals came from mistakes. Had Nyahwema and Gyasi been on from the start, we may well have got something from the game. Nyahwema is so tricky and was a real handful for their right back. It was by him getting the better of his defender and getting a cross in that we git our goal from and that was soon after coming on.
Charlie Wilson looked assured when he came on. I wasn't impressed with Kamara, Marriott looked lively when he came on and I would prefer Marriott over Kamara on today's showing. I would have kept Williams on rather than subbing him for Marriott and took someone else off, maybe Clunan. We know how good Williams is at free kicks, so for that reason, would have preferred him there, just in case we got a free kick close to goal.
Always said it is a work in progress and I'm sure we will come good, we need to stick together and be patient.

Walks In The Sunshine

Frustrating.

Make no mistake, Fylde are a good team, their play, their use of the ball, their game management - they are a good team.

But I think in the first half we showed them too much respect.

Second half, when we had a go at them - partly due to the managers changes - we looked decent.

It has to be hard for the manager, if he's been told he's on a week to week basis.
For example, he wins a match, he must feel safe (for a week) he loses one, as in today and he must fear that he is no longer manager
How can he operate like that??

How can he fully put 100% into this week with two games coming up, knowing that his position is fragile??

In any walk of life, if an employee doesn't think their job is secure, they will do their job, but they won't be 100% into it.
I think Bal needs to stick or twist with this situation - either give it to him fully or get a new manager in.

The start of this season showed a lot of promise -  a good (albeit flawed) manager, exciting signings, exciting performances, decent results.....and now look where we are - we could be in a relegation scrap by the end of the Radcliffe result (depending on other results obviously)

I think the team is 'there' it has a good basis, but watching today, I'm still not sure what Clunan brings to the party.
He, again, got MOTM, but it's only because he is busy - agreed he got the goal, but other than that, he moves around the pitch, pointing at this, pointing at that, as skipper he needs to drive this team forward, he's one of the more experienced players and needs to help the youngsters.

My other gripe with the players is Gold - he is anything but that.
For me, he is stealing a living, he has ability, but his application is dire

Adam Marriott needs more game time and will certainly put a shift in - more than Gold does.

I accept losing - losing, as well as winning, is part of football.
If all players walk off that pitch, soaked in sweat and have given their all, but just got beat by a better team - thats football.
What I cannot accept is a half hearted effort - that bolis my p!ss

So two games coming up within a week......we need points

Sorry to say it but think Joe got his line up wrong. First half we looked very passive as though we were waiting for it to go wrong.  The changes at the break made it a more even game.  Though we had nothing to lose and Fylde had nothing to gain by going expansive.

Like you Waljs I'm surprised Clunan got MOTM.  I know he's the skipper but I think we have better options in the squad for that role.

Interesting to see Mr Cleeve in the front seats of the Directors box. Is he becoming more involved and Bal turning to him to offer advice.  Anyone know what the Polive were doing talking to him?  Someone suggested his car had been tampered with.

Worksop is looking a very pivotal game for both the Club and Joe Simpson.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about ?

Football, as has been said a number of times, is a game of opinions and I didn't come away from the Walks yesterday quite as negative as some.  Really difficult for Joe given the woeful 'backing from the director' in midweek did the brave thing and switched the formation and, whilst there were obvious teething troubles, individual errors and a couple of players in the first half who really let him down, on the whole I thought we looked better for the switch.  Hopefully the return of Crane and T Wilson on Tuesday evening will strengthen the team as both were missed today.

Positives - I thought Collins had a really good game in midfield but nothing in front of him first half didn't help but thought him and Clunan worked well together, likewise when Maja came on he did nothing wrong so would be happy with either starting on Tuesday.  Wilson from Norwich stepped in and commanded the back line, appreciate it was only a half of football but looked very good.  Also Marriott showed he has still got something about him, might not be as fit but still has enough to warrant more minutes even if it is off the bench.

Negatives - having praised one loan signing, Kamara has to be from the other end of the spectrum, hopefully it just 'wasn't his day' but saw nothing that justified waiting until half time to replace him, same could be said of Lambert who again was wasteful with what ball he had.

So onto Tuesday, hopefully Joe sticks with the back three, I would have Wilson, Wilson and Dickens, decision to be made on midfield two and could be Williams at right wing back over Hall-Johnson to give us a bit more in the middle, Crane an obvious starter at 10 and then the difficult choice of who are the front two.  Gold is never going to win over his detractors so we either accept him for what he is or maybe mix things up - if Maja starts we don't need the defensive cover at set pieces so maybe go with Gyasi up top with Collins and Crane behind?

I'm in the glass half full side after watching the match. I agree with some of the previous posts.

I'm told we started 4-4-2 which is not how we "usually"  play, so I'm wondering if that's why some of the players seemed a bit lost. And why a few stayed lost.

During training Joe can only learn so much. Until he has an opposition to play against, some of it will be trial and error.

In addition he had to find a way to integrate two new loanees, whilst missing two other players.

What he doesn't need is the sword of Damacles hanging over his head "week-to-week"🗡☹️⚔️

I wasn't impressed with Kamara either. I didn't even realise he was on the pitch 🫣 and my opinion on Omatayo is well known. He needed a rocket up his 🚀

We were totally outclassed by Fylde's one touch skills and I thought we were going to be absolutely splattered 😒

Both goals came from errors and the keeper did his best, but had been let down by his own team mates. The first one was an absolute embarrassment.

When the changes were made it became a whole new game for us. Mazza got stuck in straight away and has earned at least a 30 minute shift for the next match.

But we can't expect him or Clunan to be the same as they were before. What they can do, is bring maturity and knowledge and create a new role for themselves.

Overall we didn't have a particularly impressive day.

But to the people who booed at half time and full time... Don't you think the players know when they're not doing well ? Exactly how do you think booing will help ? Not impressed 🤐 Shame on you 😕

Someone will now tell me that they've paid their money and are entitled to voice their opinion. So am I.
