Another one who wasn't really given a chance.

He was given a chance, just didn't take it, talked a good story when he joined but never fulfilled his promises.

It was never about ability with Gregg - just about application and fitness. When in the mood there are few better at this level.......He has the ability to create, score and generally bully opposing defenders.

Still doing well, featuring and scoring regularly......Made and scored one in the 3-3 draw at Salford.................We could do with him back here - just what we are missing IMO....It does make me wonder how it is it that Boston have got him fit and playing consistently - something that we failed to do? More about management and motivation than ability, which he obviously has in abundance?

Rod, I think you will find that Smith was fit and raring to go at Stamford pre-season. They played Boston in a friendly and the Boston Defence couldn't cope with him, hence why they went in for him. Think it was the player himself who decided to get lean and mean during the summer. A ft Smith is certainly a handful. For Lynn he will just go down as let another striker that didn't perform for us. Hardly an exclusive Club, is it ?

Mallard, I had overlooked that! It is a fact that he 'destroyed' the Boston defence pre-season when incidentally those on the Stamford forum were mightily unimpressed with the same Boston team who shortly afterwards beat us quite easily!
It was obviously mostly about Gregg taking the initiative but it is such a shame that we missed out on him as I think potentially he could have gone on to become a 'Linnet legend'?

He seems very comfortable playing at Conference level - scored the winner for Boston away at Telford.

Scored again in a 2-3 home defeat to Brackley, for whom Steve Diggin who played for us very briefly a few seasons ago (one game?) scored a hat trick.

Boston United striker Gregg Smith has suffered a dislocation and fracture to his right ankle.
The 26-year-old sustained the injury during New Year's Day's 2-1 victory over Gainsborough Trinity at The Northolme.
