Boxing Day draw.
« on: December 26, 2024, 04:59:40 PM »
Lynn draw 2-2 against Needham Market at Walks.

With Curzon suffering another home defeat today, they drop to second as Kidderminster leap frog into 1st spot, following their 3-0 away win at Hereford.

Lynn drop to 3rd, equal on points to Curzon, who have a superior goal difference.

Att:  1213.

Against one of the bottom clubs....no real goal threat, Margetts  not the player he was....will probably have to hopefully rely on playoffs. I know we are still up there! But not dominating teams below us. Not good enough to move up to National League.

That's a really poor result.....Lynn needed 3 points just to stay in the automatic promotion mix Just don't seem to have an adequate game plan  at home to the bottom clubs. Thats Sports, Farsley and Needham where Lynn have come up well short. So disappointing when they do well at Brackley and Chester and then negate it.

Also it seems whenever they get a really good crowd in this season they fluff their lines......likely to be back to 800 now for the next few home games.......just stifles any crowd momentum .

Margetts isn't scoring with any regularity........I wonder whether he has fully recovered from that spinal injury.

Our only other dedicated forward Omotayo can't get any time on the pitch it seems.

Surely in today's circumstances one might have expected Hughes (85) and Omotayo (90) to feature earlier.
Are Lynn that afraid of the attacking threat of the likes of Needham that they can't be a little more gung ho at home? If there is no real intention of using Gold then it would be best to let him go.........I am sure there is another step 2 side around that would take him and get 10 goals from him in  the rest of the season.

I have to agree with that.We have to win this kind fixture if we are serious about promotion.A decent attendance especially as NM would not have brought many with them.Cleeve or Bal seem to be on the right track in getting supporters returning.

If Margetts isn't 100% why are we playing him. Omatayo coming on with 5 minutes left, poor sod, what is he to do. We are so lacking with goal scorers, why haven't we signed someone who at least knows what a goal looks like at the attacking end of a game. Just seems we are treading water game after game.

Let’s not forget we have a 3rd striker, Williams.   Can’t even get a place on the bench. Why was he signed ?

Just had a listen to AL’s post match interview. Sounds like Cody Johnson is on his way out.  Plus the Manager wasnt very complimentary toward the people who pay his wages.  Reckons it’s his job to call out the fans when they aren’t doing their job.  Think after today his criticism should be aimed a little more closer to home after that performance
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Are we really a full-time club? Never seen so much head tennis since the Webb days at Southern Prem level and that was the level of football played. Very poor. We seem to drop down to the level of the teams we face and fare better by higher clubs

That's got to be very high on the list of the most ridiculous comments ever to come out of The Walks!   :banghead;

The reporter asking Lakeland the question about supporters seems like a set up between the two to me.Hypocritical when you think about it.Lakeland said it's easy for people to criticise then in same breathe he criticises the supporters.Note for Adam it was your team that failed to beat lowly Needham Market on home turf not the supporters! You know, the ones that pay your wages.

Indicative of a club that has no idea how to develop a rapport with its 'customers!'

Firstly he might like to try and get the team to play attractive attacking football instead of reactive football....secondly im sure the roar of the massive crowd at Curzon is what AL is yearning for

Do you think AL will have his full time squad in for training tomorrow, to iron out a few problems that were apparently evident to him today?

I don't know who or what will be blamed at the next match if/when we next run into trouble 🤔

We regularly get the one about the quality of the pitch. I'm pretty sure the weather has been blamed from time to time as well. Oh, the refs are always against us. The linos clearly don't know their job.

And now it's the supporters who are to blame. Exactly what is he expecting us to do ?

You rarely get singing or chanting from the main stand (whatever it's currently named). I don't know why, but that's just the way it is at Lynn.

It helps, of course, if we see something positive happening on the pitch in front of us to get behind and we become a bit more animated.

If it's indifferent, people start chatting to each other about the size of the turkey and how long it will take to get through it.

If it's negative on the pitch then how can we be expected to give genuine positive feedback to the players ?

Give us something to cheer about, because Lynn fans just don't work that way I'm afraid. If you're playing badly all you'll get in return is... the sound of silence 🤫

Must we all now not only pay good money to watch whatever is performed in front of us, which at times is of questionable quality, but must also give ongoing, but fake, positive feedback to the team during play ? Exactly how is that meant to help the players ?

Apportioning blame to the supporters is easy because we have no way to give "our" side of it.

Unfortunately finding the "right" support AL needs from Lynn fans is about as simple as pushing fog up a cat's bum with a knitting needle 😾

It’s about time the team learnt how to find a way to deal with the up and under long ball games instead of joining in.

I confess to not having been to The Walks for quite a while, and just watch whatever is available on video. I’ve see enough, however, to wonder why Crane is always on the bench.  He appears to have some of the pace and skill that we completely lack on too many occasions, and he seems to fall into the trap suffered by Barrett when he was here and clearly the best player in the club at the time.  Managers often convince themselves that they possess some kind of tactical knowledge that makes them rely on their Subbuteo Board formations in which the most skilful players are surplus to requirements. It’s complete nonsense!  Successful teams are those that, believe it or not, actually pick their best players!  You might not win with them, but you sure as Hades won’t without them!
