Crisis at Lynn
« on: May 09, 2025, 10:35:58 AM »
Fresh off the old Lynn town grapevine…

Joe and co have slashed playing budget and possible mass exodus of playing staff and manager this is why we haven’t seen a retained list yet…awful if true.

I never thought i would make an account just to comment but what a disgrace to treat our manager like this.

Came in and saved us from certain relegation, rebuilt the team and got us in the playoffs this season and now is rewarded with this?

No care for the players, management or staff that this will effect massively, all that hard work and commitment for nothing

What will be left of our club? can see if this happens we will have no team left or management and be starting from scratch. Relegation fodder next season likely

Seems like it's not SC at fault here either as Joe and Bal are in charge of budget for next season?  :red card: :dontknow:

Is anyone really surprised ?  SC had his annual begging bowl with the 50k shortfall at the end of the season.  Lakeland did an ok job this season though the Football served up wasn’t the most exhilarating.  He ran a 25 man full time squad.  That won’t have come cheap and for a club pulling in around 1,000 fans how is that sustainable?  Factor in the outstanding 500k loan that is due to start being paid back, the picture does look black.

The Club does need a reset and needs to be sustainable. I would suggest the only other option seems to be to insolvency and take a two league drop down to step 4.  I wonder which the fans would prefer ?

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

If fact rather than as yet unsubstantiated rumour (?) this has been for some considerable time an accident waiting to happen. Aside from the numerous other issues, having a full time squad at our level and circumstance has never made good sense to me.

Is this a true story, or someone muddying the waters before the meeting next week.

Adam Lakeland confirms a 30% cut of his playing budget for next season on BBC Radio Norfolk and says he is disappointed with the lack of ambition.

For once Stephen Cleeve is exempt from this chaos behind the scenes...Having watched the post match interview after the penultimate game,
This doesn't surprise me in the least...In my opinion this current management team and certain players are not worthy of " full time" status after serving a large percentage of mediocre football...josh coulson must stay in any form for next season🤔

AL was on Radio Norfolk with Nick Bowler at 6.30.  He said playing budget for next season has been cut by 30%, obviously caught Nick off guard but he did ask what this meant for his future to which Adam was pretty honest, discussed with the club about walking away 'by mutual agreement' but not come to anything although he did say he wouldn't want to come all this way to manage a part-time side and not what he signed up to 18 months ago, felt him and Sam had kept their side of the bargain - kept us up last season, playoffs this year.  To be fair he sounded pretty gutted and said he had already had to have difficult discussions with players who wouldn't be here next year with the cuts.

Pretty much all confirmed by AL on Radio Norfolk,

30% budget cut, AL doesn't know who  is answerable to and is disappointed, demotivated, deflated and let down, He also stated if Lynn go part time he could stay on his own door step and do that.

Lakeland sounded mighty cheesed off and it looks as if he's done,

The Trust meeting should be lively.

Is it reduced by 30% of the original budget or 30% of the budget which was an overspend by the Chairman later in the season ?

Be interesting to know what the 30% budget equates to in £ shillings and pence.

I guess Lakeland will be sort after in Non League circles much closer to home. Be interesting to see where he ends up.

Without a wealthy owner / owners, the club has for some time been in real trouble with doubts of its future. Don’t see why Bal / Joe got involved in the club unless they have some master plan, but they probably haven’t.
Did anyone really think we would not revert back to part time next season (assuming there will be a next season) and that with that the management and many players would leave, it is their full time job after all.
Remember when we were in the United Counties League, it wasn’t that bad and right now that is better than no club at all.

Retained list is out.

These are still under contract: Pat Boyes, Ross Crane, Theo Williams, Paulius Falcao, Tom Wilson, Josh Hmami, Matty Warburton, Fin Whteley, Bailey Marsden and Kyle McFadden.

The club remains in discussions with Paul Jones, Josh Coulson, Freddie Sass, Dylan Crowe, Kian Ronan, Greg Taylor Cameron Forde-Browne, and Finlay Barnes about new deals.

Midfielder Cody Johnson has returned to his parent club, Stockport County, and remains in dialogue with the club regarding an extension of his terms at Edgeley Park.

Leaving: Striker Jonny Margetts is perhaps the most notable departure and joining him out of the exit door are Josh McCammon and Tommy Hughes.
