As some of you may be aware, the main stand at the Walks Football Stadium is now over70 years old and like much of the stadium, requires ongoing repair and maintenance to ensure it remains safe and fit for purpose.
In recent years there has been understandable concern regarding areas of disrepair around the ground, in particular the condition of the Main Stand.

In November 2022 ahead of the FA Cup tie with Stevenage, a ground inspection revealed areas of unsafe flooring within the Main Stand. Temporary works were carried out to ensure the fixture could proceed safely. A subsequent structural survey that the problem was caused by woodworm. Since then, the need for a permanent solution has remained, with remedial work underway. .
More recently, representatives of The Blue and Gold Supporters' Trust have been working alongside the football club and have attended meetings with Council safety officials to help facilitate a permanent solution to this long-standing issue. This work is ongoing to have this issue resolved as soon as possible. .
These ongoing maintenance requirements come at significant cost. The timber alone to carry out these repairs to the Main Stand represents a significant expense.
To help meet these ongoing costs and in turn allow more of the club's resources to be directed towards football operations, The Blue and Gold Supporters' Trust and the club have jointly launched a Ground Maintenance Fund. The Trust will administer the fund and ensure that every donation is used solely for essential ground repair and maintenance projects. .
The main stand has served generations of Linnets supporters for over 70 years. As it reaches this remarkable milestone, we have an opportunity to give it the birthday present it deserves and help protect it for future generations. .
Supporters may remember that the Trust's previous Ground Development Fund successfully helped finance the purchase of the turnstiles at the Seven Sisters end of the ground as well as the St John Ambulance portacabin. We hope this new initiative can once again demonstrate what can be achieved when supporters come together behind their football club. .

It is also hoped that collection points will be available around the ground on match days to allow for cash donations.

Thought the club had applied for grants to cover costs for repairs to the stand.

If the work on the stand ( and maybe other areas?) isn't completed by the start of the season would this mean we might have to play home matches at another location ? If so where is the closet step 2 graded ground that we could share ?

It does seem rather last minute to get the begging bowl out and attempt to get the work done just a few short weeks before the opening day of the season
