Ross Crane

Just a bit of a recent observation but has anyone else noticed recently that when Ross Crane is on the pitch we look a bit more likely to score a goal?

Scored a goal against Marine about a month ago, was unlucky to hit the post against Radcliffe and I think he had another chance which wasn't far off, and seconds after he came on against Hereford he nearly set up the equaliser before someone managed to put it over the bar from 5 yards out!! He's then managed to get a brace against Oxford on Tuesday by being in the right place at the right time.

I know some have been critical of Crane but I really like the lad and given he's a young lad as well I think there is still more to come from him. For me, he has to be one of the first names on the teamsheet. Be interested to know everyone else's thoughts on him  :scarf:

Agree WW, loads of potential.   Good signing.  Think we will see see even more from him next season.  Subject to him still being with us of course.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Agreed WellWisher.  I’ve spent the season shouting “CRANE” because speed and trickery are the best  ammunition for any team.  But I spent a season shouting “BARRETT” and got nowhere as well!  Managers  are too full of faux-tactics to see the nose on the front of their faces!

Barrett got a time added on winner for Aldershot yesterday in a 3-2 result.  Remind me again how much did we get for him ?  He’s scored more goals in a poor Shots team this season at NL level than our leading goalscorer has at NLN level.

Abi
It’s is the first quality to look for.  And it only takes 5 minutes and 2 touches to spot it….

I don't think AL understood the concept of Josh Barrett...skill ...vision and a game changer

Well that makes two of us at least 😏

Another player who was and is "misunderstood" is Mr Gold. I've made no secret of the fact that I was glad when he left... and extremely disappointed with his return.

AL has put on record the fact that he's struggling to see how to fit Gold into the team.

I suggest that AL should admit defeat on that one, as to shuffle the team about, just to find that sweet spot, will probably have a detrimental effect on the rest of the team.

The club has been on that dodgy ground before. Mettam and Grant Holt spring to mind, although I suspect the latter was just a headline grabber.

There's no "I" in team 😕...apparently.

Only Tommy could get goals out of Gold, the other 9 outfielders did a lot of position swapping and created alot of overloads to get him time and space

Josh Barrett didn't want to stay and didn't fit in anymore. Nor was he fit or consistent

Skilful players like Barrett are always accused of not being consistent, or not “putting in a shift”. I only watch Bundesliga, La Liga, or Champions League now to avoid players “winning fouls” or “tactical fouls” in the macho game full of players “putting in a shift” that has developed over here…
