Paul im
Not sure that is strictly true.  Another Club did make an offer for Gold. He didn’t fancy the Manager at the Club. So turned the move down.  Williams as I understand it doesn’t want to go out loan. So that’s those two strikers clogging up the process to bring others in.

Think AL realises he has made a massive mistake in signing both Gold and Williams as neither have produced.  In a nutshell those two signings could well have cost the Club a play off place.

Thankfully AL had Josh Hymani to get him out of a hole and banging a few in. If not our position would be below the part timers at P Sports!

Both the chairman and manager (AL also confirmed Joe gave the go-ahead) have said there is money to bring in new players, but I'll keep quiet as it appears the usual suspects on here (think they) know more than them. Fair play.

Every one knows what our problem is we have Strikers that are not firing on all clenders J M isn’t the player he was and has for Gold he has lost his ability to score, the biggest problem imo is getting people players to come over here

I can't believe that Adam Lakeland would not have signed someone by now if he really had the money available. I know the Club has the issue of geographical location, but obviously that's always been the case and always will be. If a decent player was offered the right terms he would be here irrespective of our location. Not having the money available is probably down to the still unresolved situation between Jo and Cleeve.

Adam has given reasons why he hasn't signed players, and I didn't expect him to say anything else. It's what Managers do.

 :bus:

Didn't we pay a fee for Omotayo & Williams and agree a free with Warrington for Connor Woods before he signed for Chester? Also spoke to Sam Osbourne before he joined Alfreton. So it does appear backing is there.

That's Then and Now Paul. Gold was here for start of season and Williams came in September. That's 5 months ago. We obviously had a few quid at start of season but doesn't mean we have any now. We didn't get Osbourne so that's more likely down to lack of money on offer rather than having proving sufficient funds available now.

On the subject of Williams, where was he last night? If he's only going to bench warm (or not even do that), wouldn't it be best to get him out on loan and recoup some money.

Could say the same for Gold. Strikers are always the most expensive so if he's only going to be a bit part player for us, why not sell? We can't be the only club looking for a striker so he could be worth a few bob. Why not cash in, release some money, and go for someone that better suits Adams plans (and can score a few goals)?

So how come we agreed a fee for Connor Woods only a month ago if money is the issue, which you appear to be saying it is?

As for selling Omotayo.....only one club would be silly enough to pay a fee for him. Unfortunately that's us.

I'm saying that money seems to be more of an issue than the other reasons we have been given.

At this stage of the season, a single signing or a departure doesn't alter my view of that. Nor does the fact we have "talked" to players.

The uncertainty surrounding Jo and Cleeve coming to an agreement with nothing having materialised yet, along with AL making no signings of note, just seems like money is the more likely issue. That doesn't mean there's none, but more likely not enough.

If that is the case, I don't blame Jo for not parting with his money until an agreement is finalised. That's good business sense.

That's the reason they need to get it over the line asap.

Not just for the benefit of this season, but for the future of the Club.

As long as you know Paul, I wouldn't bother being over concerned about things

What else would they say? 😅

Personally, I'd rather hear that from Jo or Bal.

Could that be arranged?

.....but like Osbourne, he's not here! He obviously preferred the terms offered elsewhere.

Anyway, what's his goal record been like since he joined Chester? We don't need players like him  as we have already got strikers that don't score goals.

Think it’s all an interesting debate.

After AL dug SC out of a hole and saved our NLN status.  So this season was really Lakeland’s first go at it here.  The Manager himself was the one who raised the expectation bar with his comment about not travelling 4 hours each day to not be competing at the top.

Maybe a mid table position should be acceptable to all as progress from last season.  Hopefully once Jo and Bal have taken over, next season will see us taking that next step with AL adding to the squad and releasing those that haven’t quite cut it.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Despite not posting for most of the season, some things just don't change do they?

Here's to the rest of the season, some better performances and hopefully a play-off place.   :welcome: :scarf:

Fully agree Paul.

The only thing I'd add to that is wishing for better than a mid table finishing position from a management team apparently taking £105,000 a year.

As for selling Omotayo.....only one club would be silly enough to pay a fee for him. Unfortunately that's us.

We 'kind of paid' £75,000 for the waste of space.

Flid saw us coming when they bought Jordan Tunnicliffe off us in 2017. We never saw the money for him and eventually, after going through various legal barriers, we got Gold in lieu of the fee.

I wouldn't have paid 75p. I'll bet he couldn't believe his full time contract luck!
