My god he is the worst "striker" we have ever had! He is only sighning because no one else wants him. Get rid of him as soon as you can

Disagree. Remember Doncaster away and Scunthorpe  home. All strikers need service from his teammates and that has been sadly lacking. Lynn have had plenty of worse strikers! Don't forget Golds defensive capabilities.

Presumably the new Manager feels he is the best fit for the budget available.

2 games out of 40 does not make a sriker. Some great defencife headers but the other end of the pitch get the ball at his feet and he is lost, distribution poor, and at set pieces he is nowhere. Cant get off the ground and for a big guy he does not put himself about at all. Thats my opininon and if rumurs are true costs a lot of money

I can’t help thinking that with Gold there is a player in there somewhere.  For balls stood up at the back post for him to attack are meat and drink.  Hold up play isn’t great and normally his 2nd touch is a tackle.   The thing with Gold he does give the team a target to get you up the field.

Is that enough ?
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Gold has always been a player who has invoked strong feelings both for and against and you can see why.  For me, non-league players come in two categories, first those that do all they can and get the most out of their ability to play as high a level as they can and the second are those that have some aspects of their game that stop them progressing higher, Gold is the extreme version of this second category.  He has some parts of his game that are clearly that of a much higher standard player (his defensive headers, finding space and finishing in and around the six yard box) but others where you think there must be better players at step 4 (holding the ball up, headed flick ons, general 'open field' play).

JR said when he arrived that he had watched a lot of footage of the potential players so you would hope that he will have learned from TW's time here when Gold was at his most effective in a Lynn shirt.  We played virtually nothing straight down the middle and asked very little of Gold outside either box but we did put balls into the box from wide positions, not always from wingers, and allowed Gold to use his ability to create separation from his defenders in those areas to finish chances.  The question is, will JR be building a team to replicate those opportunities or will he think he can make Gold a better all round player (which from previous experience didn't worked for any of his predecessors)

With the greatest respect I think some are missing the point with Gold. Due to his physical presence, people seem to expect an old fashioned English number 9 constantly barging his way through defences. He isn’t that and he was of course born in Switzerland. What he gives you is extra height and defensive capabilities at the back , a target up front and even including last season (where he was injured for part of the season, second choice for much of it and lacked any real service for much of the time) a goal every 2.75 games. So over a course of an average season he will get you 15-20 goals. That’s not a bad return and if JR can find someone else up front to get another 15-20, then Lynn will be in decent shape.

Ps this was written at a similar time to Tony’s excellent post above ,so apologies if any repetition- it will probably appear much later as it requires “moderating”

I wonder why TW didn't fancy taking him to 'Shots with him, as he did a few other players.   :dontknow:

Gold ? Again ? Really ? 🙄

I openly confess to having him as my number one whipping boy soon after we signed him. He clearly had talent, but often lacked the desire to "perform"😕

I was pleased when he left. And very disappointed when we brought him back again.

Whilst I recognise that his style of play needs an efficient supply of balls, he can at least look interested and make a positive impact while "waiting" for the "right" ball ⚽

Let's just hope JR can make something effective and efficient out of him, otherwise we'll see another lazy and disinterested performance.

Perhaps we could have him on sale or return 🤭

Doesn't fill me with much confidence of getting a decent striking partnership for the coming season. Two new defenders coming in....good....who is going to be our main strike force...not Gold I'm afraid imo... let's see what evolves over the the coming weeks. My problem is like a few others can go back a few years and remember the strikers we had... shan't name them you know who I mean...but you could rely on them to get 10- 15 a season each. These days we rely on a couple to knock in one every now and then. Hopefully this next season will prove different. The next few weeks will see what the new manager can attract to KLFC in the way of proven goal scorers. Onwards and upwards Lynn.

Regarding Gold, I think with some people, unfortunately it’s a bit deeper than how he’s performing. I’ve witnessed people abusing him then he’s scored and they don’t applaud. Sad really . It’s about supporting the eleven representing KLFC . It’s only the end of May , let’s see who the new manager brings in before making any opinions on how we’ll do next season.

If so sad and pathetic. I've always had my doubts about him based purely on performance when at times i felt he had / has much.more to give.

Why didn’t you report the abuse to the Stewards?
