General Discussion / Re: Chester

Quote from: fenlander on April 20, 2026, 12:15:15 PMThanks to Igoal difference, if Hereford were to lose on Tuesday or Saturday, we are safe.

If they don't lose either of their last two, a point on Saturday would see us safe, as Alfreton and Curzon play each other, and only one of them could overtake us. We would remain above Hereford on goal difference.

Hope this helps bring some clarity.  :thanks:
If Hereford win both their games, Curzon beat Alfreton and Bedford draw. Then a point at Chester won't be enough. Hopefully Marine will beat Hereford tomorrow

It's not looking good is it. A minimum of a draw at Chester and even that may not be enough. Chester have won their last 5 games and only conceded twice in that time.
Can't see us getting anything there, unlikely that Margin be will beat Hereford but stranger things have happened.
I knew at the time that the Bedford game was the one we couldn't afford to lose.

I know we all sat at home looking at the two games that affect us. That was all out of our hands, we quite simply need to win on Saturday against Chorley. If we do that, we have a really good chance of staying in the NLN. Buxton then either win or draw with Curzon. Last day Curzon play Alfreton.
What line up would you pick v Chorley, surely it's got to be a very attacking one.

I didn't expect to get anything from the Kidderminster game, not even when we went 1 up.
Obviously our home game v Chorley is what matters now. If we win, we will very likely stay up, as other teams below and around us still have to play each other, which in the circumstances is very good for us.
If we draw against Chorley, it will be very close and could be looking for Worksop to win on the last day. If we lose to Chorley, we would need to get something at Chester, that's a big ask.
Hopefully Saturday we will attack from the off, it really is a must win game if we are to stay in the NLN. It will no doubt not be a comfortable afternoon, looking at scores elsewhere, but we are at home and Chorley are definitely beatable.
We will need to take chances and that includes decent delivery of corner kicks. My positive head says we will win 2-0, there is no room for any negative thoughts, Hopefully Hereford stuff Bedford tomorrow, Bedford then have two tough remaing games. Buxton also win tomorrow against Alfreton would be good news too.

Quote from: Linnet465 on April 08, 2026, 10:09:36 PM:laughcry:  Us beat Chorley not a hope in hell after the last two games at home. Neither goalie playing for the opposition was tested.
Hereford won tonight and with games in hand still look capable of escaping and our performances against the rest of the strugglers has not been positive apart from Leamington. I can't see us getting another point at home or away at Kidderminster or Chester.
Relegation maybe a good thing to start again as part time. I can't see many of the current squad accepting the new terms and they will move on.
Hereford will stay up and will finish above us. They are away to Bedford on Saturday and then have 4 remaining games, all at home.
They can do us a favour by beating Bedford. Bedford have to go to South Shields so would fancy a home win there. If Bedford lose both those games, providing we get 3 more points, they wouldn't get above us.
Oxford have 3 remaining games, all tough. With two more to be relegated, I think it will be between Curzon Ashton, Oxford and Alfreton.
Had we had got a draw with Bedford, things would have looked much better, for me now, the Chorley game is pivotal, unless we win at Kidderminster 😁

Re Gepetto's comment on 'fair play to Caddis to stand up and give it a go'. He was sacked at Hereford so when offered a job at Lynn, was he ever going to turn it down, I don't think so. What even makes you think that he would actually like to be here after June.
I would like to see these stay -
Hall-Johnson
Clements
Wilson
Ubaezuonu
Williams
Crane
Toll (maybe he will play for us one day)
Dickens
Doherty

I think we will stay up, two difficult away games, but a win at home to Chorley will be enough, failing that, the bottom teams play one another, so that helps.

No to Caddis. Team selection, style of football, tactics, substitutions, unable to get the best out of current players. I can see why Hereford had had enough.

Hopefully Caddis gets the starting 11 right. Both Norwich loaned are too good to leave out. Not impressed with Rooney enough for him to start, would go with Bondo.

Both Forbes and Okwumo should be on from the start. We were fortunate to get a draw, great goal and then a good chance to even win it.

Much better performance and deserved win. Could and should have scored 2 or 3 more. Marine are in the semi finals of the Trophy, so a good win yesterday. Saw the game out very well, need to take our good chances, would have been a comfortable last 15 minutes if we had.
What is the current situation with Toll, is he likely to feature this season.

Good to see a new forward coming in. At 6' 3" hopefully will be a handful for our opposition. Should start today and with Crane back available, we can get a point or 3 today. Well done IC and good luck Terry, welcome to King's Lynn.

Sadly, I think IC is taking the club down to step 3. In his post match interview, he says "there's no way this club is going down", I think with no wins and just 4 points from the last 9 games, we look like we very much are.
Just one place above the drop zone and with Hereford, albeit 7 points behind, they do have 5 games in hand.
Yesterday's game was uninspiring, losing at home and without scoring against the likes of Alfreton (who were a poor side too), it's very evident that this team isn't up to the task in hand.
No real goal threat and little game plan. Trying to play it short from goal kicks and being closed down and put under constant pressure (do that against South Shields and they will punish us). Too many short corners too, an opportunity to get the ball in the box gets wasted.
Williams has a fantastic free kick, so trying to win free kicks within shooting range could be something to think about. I think Crane has one more game to serve his suspension, so will be good to get him back. Assuming that Gyasi isn't likely to figure anymore, but we could really do with him right now. Really need a proven goal scorer immediately, good luck with finding one.
What is the advantage that we are getting from being full time?

General Discussion / Re: Hereford yesterday

We are 17th for a reason, when you can't score at home to the team second from bottom tells you everything. Nothing much between the teams, could have gone either way.
Davis looked a good addition to the squad and based on yesterday, should start at Telford. Agree with Tony, re IC post match interview. He keeps saying we are not a million miles away, well without any forwards we are. Surely a new forward has to come in very soon.
Trying to play out to full backs from goal kicks looked very iffy at times. Most times, we were closed down very quickly and made to hurry, often losing possession in dangerous positions, we didn't look comfortable doing it. I think we will stay above the bottom 4, which I guess has to be our main aim. Decent attendance considering our recent performances. Great save from Jones in the first half.

Agree with Tony M re starting line up. We are lacking a forward, but I still wouldn't start Omotayo, maybe use as a sub.
Will need to get better control of the midfield, if we can dominate that, then we should be ok.
Hopefully Nacclesfield don't play in a similar colour strip, agree with Dilly, re colour clash v Chester.

Outclassed, best team won.
Chester's strip colour was too similar to ours, surprised the refereee allowed that, was especially difficult to distinguish in the second half as it  got dark.
Marriott out injured for 6 plus weeks, Gyasi loaned out (won't be back). Our number 9 say no more.
Morgan Williams man of the match, got subbed off. For Macclesfield, I would like to see all 3 of the on loan players start and a replacement for our number 9.

Quote from: Mallard on November 20, 2025, 07:21:58 PMHeard a lot of good things about the young lad from Ipswich, Rio Oudnie-Morgan.
All 3 of the loan players look good, looking forward to seeing them, hopefully some of them starting the game tomorrow.
I remember one of IC's former loan players, Simon Power, who made his debut v York. He was a real talent, so hoping the new loanees are too.
