General Discussion / Re: Next season

Quote from: fenlander on April 14, 2026, 07:06:25 PMWorst score for us tonight, would be a 1-0 win for Hereford over Oxford City.

Not too sure about that, Hereford still have to play Peterborough Sports plus two games against mid-table teams with nothing to play for (Marine & Radciffe) so not unreasonable to expect them to pick up enough points to go above us.  Oxford on the other hand will really be in trouble if they don't get anything from tonight with games against Chester and Darlington to come.  Personally I would be happy with a Hereford 1-0 win this evening, looks like going down to the final weekend either way

Quote from: Mallard on April 07, 2026, 10:40:53 AMAssuming we stay up in the NNL which players would like still on board and would you give the Managers job to Caddis ?

I'd stick Clements, Wilson, Williams, Crane, Dickens, Doherty and Forde Brown.  As for Caddis, no way.

Trouble is after Bal has appointed 4 Managers this season would you trust him to eventually get it right 5th time lucky ?

Really difficult to make a strong case for any employee associated with the club retaining their job, appreciate everyone will make mistakes during their working life but this year has been mistake after mistake on and off the field so some decisions for Jo to make.

In answer to your question, Caddis is certainly more open on the media side and can't really argue with his post match comments with any of the games I have seen but we are not paying him to analyse what has happened but on his ability to get the best out of the squad in terms of selection, tactics and motivation and whilst we did see a 'new manager blip' I am not sure he has really done enough to earn a contract for next year.

In terms of the playing squad, I would like to see Wilson stay but imagine he will be in the NL next season, Doherty has done well in midfield and there is a player there although probably not physical enough to play centre half in a two and presumably Ubaezuonu will be here next year.  You could probably make a case for another 5-6 as being being able to do a job in a better squad but really I wouldn't be bothered at anyone else leaving.  Obviously the key factor is always going to be budget and questions need to be asked as to why so many of the experienced (and presumably higher earning) players were out for long spells with injuries which left the younger players exposed.  At the fans forum in December Bal, IC and MC were all in favour of the full time model but with one gone and one injured having had a good season but not as influential on the pitch as many had hoped is now the time to reassess that model which may then impact on the managerial appointment.

As ever, never a dull moment at the Walks but that isn't necessarily a good thing

So we allow Canaries fans in cheap and genuine KLTFC fans pay full price on NON LEAGUE DAY. If I'm correct it's not really encouraging local non Canaries fans from attending.  :salute:

The alternative view on Non-League day is that it is an opportunity for non-league clubs up and down the country to open their doors, often at a discount, to encourage those who watch football at a higher level to give their local non-league club a go and see if they enjoy it.  Whilst the crowds at the Walks have held up better than results on the pitch this season, I don't think there are many who wouldn't want to see an extra couple of hundred more there each week, even if KLTFC are those fans 'second team'.

General Discussion / Re: Buying Success.
March 16, 2026, 01:39:12 PM
This is what I don't understand when people moan about KLTFC 'not having ambition', unfortunately  the new independent regulator is only overseeing steps 1-5 so we are the top of the wild west, hopefully in time their remit will extend to the NLN and NLS which would make sense as they are governed by the NL committee.  Easy to say after we have had years of relative success from our own financial doping but that didn't make it right and whilst SC didn't take the club into administration, I think we came close and we are still burdened with the fall out and will be for years to come.

Welcome 3 points and most of the results of those around us went our way too.  Thought the manager's assessment was pretty fair - not a great game but we did enough to win and Marine never really threatened although missing the penalty and other chances to kill the game off kept them in it.  Will be much sterner tests over the next three games but hopefully a bit of confidence from this result and performance.

Will be interesting to see what changes happen to the squad over the coming days/weeks, with only 11 games left it's a big ask to be chopping and changing players at this stage of the season

Quote from: Mallard on March 04, 2026, 08:51:30 PMHeard that a change is about to happen at the top end of the Club......

Mall, having read your post I can't believe that with everything that has gone on off the pitch this season that 'the club' has felt this was the change that gives the team 'the best possible opportunity for the remainder of the season'.  Given what he has had to work with I think IC has done a fantastic job and the club is now looking for it's fourth manager of the season or will JS be asked to step in for the rest of the campaign?

General Discussion / Accounts filing
March 02, 2026, 09:40:34 AM
Looks like Lynn FC Ltd have asked for, and been granted, an extension to filing their accounts to 31st May 2025, we will have finished another season before last years accounts are filed.

Good three points away from home and hopefully a boost to confidence going into this weekends six pointer against Oxford.  Not out of the woods by any stretch but still doing enough to keep clear of the bottom four and with lots of teams in and around the drop zone we are no where near the relegation favourites many on social media would have you believe.

General Discussion / Re: Sprinklergate

Quote from: fenlander on February 23, 2026, 03:15:27 PMEDP suggests the club have already responded to the League, who have accepted their explanation.

https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/25876748.kings-lynn-town-great-pitch-sprinkler-mystery/

The article seems to suggest the sprinkler was in operation on the morning of the inspection so whether the picture is genuine or not is a bit of a moot point.  Would be good if the club could clarify the situation re the league response and maybe if they had been a bit more proactive getting this out the 'story' may not have blown up - the postponement certainly wouldn't have surprised anyone who attended the Worksop game given the state of the pitch after the game and following three days of rain.

What I don't understand is the blame being laid at the whistleblower, whilst their motives can be open to question the real issue must surely be the controls and processes within the club, not who has shone a light on them and for the EDP to say this person is 'endangering jobs' is a heck of a leap.  The club hasn't had a solid off field structure for a number of years, with this just being the latest mis-step and Jo must be wondering what on earth he is throwing his money at.

Quote from: Grissles Oleary on February 09, 2026, 11:04:05 PMHopefully the last couple of results will tempt back our more fickle fans on Tuesday? :scarf:  :scarf:  :scarf:

No doubt there are fickle fans within the wider fanbase but equally four home games in 15 days will mean those who didn't get season tickets will pick and choose, add in a horrible night and the Champions League might have seemed a better bet for some last Tuesday.  Hopefully the deal for friends of season ticket holders will ensure there are a few more through the gate this evening and well done to the club for putting on the promotion (personally wouldn't mind seeing this for every midweek game in Jan/Feb, even if the price of season tickets rose a little to compensate)

Good to see the new lad open his account.  The table makes for much better reading than this time last Saturday with eight teams below us, all with worse goal differences and only the bottom three with games in hand.  Tuesday looks wet again but not as cold as last week and with the offer on for friends of season ticket holders, hopefully we can see a few more on the gate.

We have signed a new defender from Chester, more details here https://www.lynnnews.co.uk/sport/linnets-swoop-for-german-giant-9452045/

Seems a very strange signing to me, particularly if money is tight, with Wilson back from suspension and Anderson from Mansfield who looked promising when he came on Saturday, that isn't the priority area of the pitch for me.  We have been short of a holding midfielder all season which has often been why the defence has looked exposed at times and we have very little creativity or attacking options within the squad so surely that is where any money should be going - how many targets has IC said we have missed out on now?

Appreciate the article says Lynn are in talks with potential new targets but since Christmas we have 2 points from 9 at home, all against teams around us, a couple of wins in those games would have made the table look a little less worrying and have brought a bit of confidence back into the group

General Discussion / Re: Today
February 02, 2026, 01:02:06 PM
Quote from: John H on February 01, 2026, 01:56:52 PMSadly, I think IC is taking the club down to step 3. In his post match interview, he says "there's no way this club is going down", I think with no wins and just 4 points from the last 9 games, we look like we very much are.
Just one place above the drop zone and with Hereford, albeit 7 points behind, they do have 5 games in hand.
Yesterday's game was uninspiring, losing at home and without scoring against the likes of Alfreton (who were a poor side too), it's very evident that this team isn't up to the task in hand.
No real goal threat and little game plan. Trying to play it short from goal kicks and being closed down and put under constant pressure (do that against South Shields and they will punish us). Too many short corners too, an opportunity to get the ball in the box gets wasted.
Williams has a fantastic free kick, so trying to win free kicks within shooting range could be something to think about. I think Crane has one more game to serve his suspension, so will be good to get him back. Assuming that Gyasi isn't likely to figure anymore, but we could really do with him right now. Really need a proven goal scorer immediately, good luck with finding one.
What is the advantage that we are getting from being full time?

Think it's harsh to frame it as IC taking us down, when all he can do is rearrange (the same) deckchairs.  Out of interest, given the players available, how would you have set things up differently at the weekend?  Personally I would have considered playing Fleming in the back 3 as we know it is always physical vs Alfreton (hence the short corners and playing out from the back to avoid getting into physical battles we would lose 9/10). Thought we did OK first half with Alfreton swapping formation to counter us and again at the start of the second half when changes IC made to get RHJ & Troso further forward meant we were well on top until the non-goal but would accept we didn't have enough creativity in the final third but that has been the case all season.

As for the advantage of full time, very little by the look of it.  At the fans forum Bal, IC and MC were all on the same song sheet re competing with Spalding / Sports for a limited pool of local players but without a good core of experienced players (which we don't have) to integrate with the youngsters / ex-academy players you are on dangerous ground as this season has proven.  We finished the game on Saturday with 5 loanees on the pitch and whilst the two lads from Mansfield both looked promising it shows what IC is working with

General Discussion / Re: Every Match Now Must Win

Quote from: Carly Simon on January 30, 2026, 10:26:17 AMTony, you offer a good balanced alternative view.

However, as I understand it during the time period you mention TSI were not shareholders or held any kind of directorship. They were more in the role of money lender. Did they have any control over spending ? If someone buys a car or house using finance and can't keep up payments due to mismanagement of their finances, who's at fault ?

Carly, I appreciate TSI were not shareholders nor directors but I don't think it's unreasonable to assume they had a fair degree of influence having bailed the club out during 2023-24 and they have confirmed it was their money that bankrolled the 2024-25 season.  So, not so much a one-off car or house purchase but more a line of credit that they allowed to continue to be drawn down at an unrealistic rate saddling the club with a considerable debt, how much of which remains outstanding since TSI assumed control is unknown.

As for whose is at fault for past spending, that isn't really the issue for me, the club is where it is, however much we might wish otherwise.  The problem some (myself included) have is that the sudden crack down on spending in the middle of a season is not a great way to run a football club, if belts needed to be tightened then this should have been planned for when the original squad was put together but from the outside that doesn't appear to have been the case and unfortunately IC is now having to try and put out a competitive side apparently without the resources to do so.

Quote from: Geppetto on January 29, 2026, 12:36:22 PM465 you are 100% dead right people laying blame on TSI for whatever happens this season in the league are delusional without them we wouldnt even have a team in this league. Some seem intent and hoping that the Club with TSI will fail makes no sense to me unless they support Boston. And calling young players who are learning their trade and battling for the team pathetic will not help in my opinion.

Geppetto, just because somebody has put money into the club does not automatically make them above criticism.  465 is sort of right, but it was the 2023-24 season that TSI came in after Christmas and ensured we could finish the season, they then allowed SC to continue spending (their money?) in 2024-25 before stating in the off season that belts would be tightened for the current campaign.  Unfortunately it appears that things were allowed to get well out of hand at the start of the season and IC is having to make do with scraps to make good that shortfall.

I had no problem with the 30% cut in playing budget if that was what was deemed necessary to reduce the financial doping to a level that TSI were comfortable with and was realistic enough to know it was unlikely that we would be challenging for the title on that spending level.  Whilst I appreciate there were 101 things that needed to be put in place after SCs departure and there have been some notable improvements in some aspects of the running of the club that doesn't get away from the fact that the playing side has been mismanaged this season and I don't see why fans should be labelled delusional for stating that, btw this won't stop me from supporting IC and whatever players he is able to put out at the weekend.
